Research Interests

Our laboratory focuses on studies of the intestine in health and disease. Some of our studies relate to the interaction of the epithelial cells lining the intestine with cells of the immune system in regulating the intestinal response to injury. These studies relate to human inflammatory bowel disease and also to the response of the normal intestine to radiation injury in patients receiving radiation therapy for pelvic malignancies. In addition to our studies on the response of the intestine to injury we are also interested in the molecular events that control the growth of the intestine in normal infants.
