Washington University GI physicians treat a variety of women’s health problems, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), fecal (bowel) incontinence, diarrhea, constipation and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). With our colleagues in obstetrics, we also focus on the management of gastrointestinal diseases during pregnancy.
We treat complicated inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) with established as well as emerging therapies, and partner with our colorectal surgery colleagues in management of medically refractory Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
We have established a committed colorectal cancer (CRC) screening program in conjunction with area internists and gynecologists to ensure that female patients have easy and convenient access to CRC screening services.
Drs. Rubin, Li and Early have established basic, translational and clinical research programs focused on CRC, including examining the role of estrogen and the stem cell environment in development of colorectal polyps and cancer.
