Chien-Huan Chen, M.D., Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Medicine Dr. Chen was recruited to the Division of Gastroenterology at Washington University School of Medicine in 2008. He received his M.D. degree from National Taiwan University School of Medicine, and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology Program from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship both at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Chen’s clinical interests include: 1) general gastroenterology, 2) hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes such as Familial Adenomatous Polyposis, Lynch syndrome and Peutz-Jeghers syndrome, and 3) small intestinal diseases. He is collaborating with surgeons, pathologists, genetic counselors, and oncologists to provide comprehensive care and screening for patients and family members of hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes. He also performs small intestinal enteroscopy and capsule endoscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of obscure GI bleeding, anemia, and small intestinal diseases. He has been interested in integrating novel technologies in the early detection and treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies.
